The trend of the day

The French National Anti-Terrorist Prosecutor's Office (Pnat) opened three new investigations for "war crimes" on Tuesday.

The investigations are aimed at acts committed to the detriment of French nationals in Ukraine since the invasion of Russia.

These facts would have been committed in Mariupol between February 25 and March 16, in Gostomel between March 1 and 12 and in Cherniguiv since February 24, specified the Pnat, competent for this type of offense.

Among these war crimes, there would be "willful attacks on mental integrity, deliberate attacks against civilians not taking part in hostilities, deliberate deprivation of objects indispensable to the survival of civilians and/or attacks against civilian property, theft, destruction and damage to property", details the Pnat, which entrusted the investigations to the Central Office for the Fight against Crimes against Humanity, Genocide and War Crimes ( OCLCH).

For its part, Russia continues to deny any abuses committed by its army in Ukraine.

Moscow has even accused kyiv of having staged "staged" civilians killed and of preparing new ones to influence Western opinion.
