The victory against Kalix on Friday meant that ÖIK for the first time made it to the qualifying series where six teams, Östersund, Hudiksvall, Nybro, Väsby, Halmstad and Dalen, make up for a place in the Hockeyallsvenskan next season.
Early on Tuesday morning, ÖIK trained one last time before getting on the bus down to Jönköping, where tomorrow Wednesday they meet HC Dalen in the opening match.
- We were of course happy last Friday when it was clear that we had reached the qualifying series, but they change quickly and focus forward, says ÖIK's coach Kjell-Åke Andersson.
Who will be the toughest opponents?
- Hudiksvall and Nybro are pre-favorites, but we can match them as well.
It will be about the classic - small margins and performing at the top - and then the other teams must be good to beat us.
