The Danish Foreign Minister announced on Tuesday that his country will expel 15 Russian diplomats accused of spying, in the context of similar measures announced by France and Germany on Monday and Italy on Tuesday.

"We have established that the expelled 15 intelligence agents carried out espionage activities on Danish territory," Yeppe Kofod told the press, stressing the determination to "send a clear signal to Russia that spying on Danish territory is unacceptable."

On Tuesday morning, the Russian ambassador was notified of the expulsion of the diplomats, and they have two weeks to leave Denmark.

At the same time, Copenhagen expressed its "strong condemnation" of "Russia's brutality towards Ukrainian civilians in Bucha", a town on the outskirts of Kyiv, and the Danish Foreign Ministry reminded in a statement that "deliberate attacks against civilians constitute war crimes."

At the same time, Copenhagen expressed its keenness to maintain its diplomatic relations with Moscow, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that "Denmark does not want to sever diplomatic relations with Moscow. Therefore, the Russian ambassador and the rest of the embassy in Copenhagen are not interested in expulsion. It is only about expelling intelligence agents."
