“A couple was close to death this Sunday after their car was hit by a TER on a level crossing in Jurançon (Pyrénées-Atlantiques), reports France Bleu Béarn Bigorre.

The two miracle victims, from Tarbes (Hautes-Pyrénées), were accompanying a friend home after dinner when they entered the unprotected level crossing.

They did not see the TER arriving from Pau, which hit their car head-on despite emergency braking.

Three accidents on this level crossing

“There were about 20 cm [from the car] on the railway, told the man to France Bleu.

The train boarded the entire front of the vehicle.

A photo taken by local radio shows the condition of the car after the crash, which caused no injuries.

The TER left a few minutes later and a tow truck came to pick up the couple's vehicle.

In recent years, this unprotected level crossing has caused no less than three accidents.
