He made his mea culpa, claiming to have "not seen the evil".

Since Monday, former Algerian international Walid Mesloub has been appearing alongside three other defendants for money laundering in a cocaine trafficking case tried before the Lorient Criminal Court (Morbihan).

The former midfielder of FC Lorient and RC Lens, where he plays as assistant reserve coach, is accused of having exchanged luxury cars with a man suspected of being at the head of a major traffic of cocaine.

Nicknamed "the Chinese", the alleged dealer would have swapped several of his cars with the footballer, who was then playing with the Hakes.

"I was negligent, he was making a very good living, I didn't see the harm.

He took advantage of my notoriety, I may have been too naive, too nice, ”explained Walid Mesloub at the helm.

“He recognized me, we hit it off.

We shared the same passion for cars and he told me that he sold some, as well as beautiful villas in Thailand”.

The defendant would have exchanged "an Audi for a BMW, a Lamborghini Huracan and a Mercedes AMG".

Transactions of up to 40,000 euros

Indicted in April 2021, Walid Mesloub appears alongside three other defendants in the money laundering part of the case.

A 29-year-old craftsman from the Var, a 28-year-old Parisian restaurateur, and the companion of the head of the alleged network, aged 26, are also summoned.

All three are suspected of having facilitated the purchase, exchange or resale of cars, transactions which could reach 40,000 euros on behalf of the “Chinese”, the main suspect.

Suspected of having used the accounts of the defendants for these transactions, this man will be tried on May 31 and June 1.
