The recommendation from the Swedish Public Health Agency is that everyone who is 65 years and older is offered a second refill dose of covid-19 vaccine.
Both Småland regions open for booking of dose four from today (Monday).
The recommendation comes as the spread of infection is still ongoing, and is also increasing in parts of Europe.
Again, it is the elderly who are offered the vaccine first, as the effect of the vaccine decreases faster if you are older.
- The protection decreases after four months and a fourth dose strengthens the protection, it is therefore important that those who are most at risk for serious illness take a second replenishment dose, says Marie Jadner, vaccination coordinator in Region Kronoberg.
