China News Agency, Jakarta, April 4 (Reporter Lin Yongchuan) On the 4th, the Indonesian High Court of West Java sentenced the criminal suspect Herry Wirawan to death for rape and sentenced him to pay over 300 million Indonesian Shield compensation.
Hari is a lecturer at an Islamic boarding school in Bandung, West Java, Indonesia.
Indonesian media previously reported that Hari sexually assaulted 13 female students in various places, including schools and hotels, between 2016 and 2019, resulting in 4 of them becoming pregnant and giving birth to 8 babies.
The case will come to light in 2021.
On February 15 this year, the Bandung District Court sentenced Hari to life imprisonment after a trial.
On February 21, the West Java Provincial Prosecutor's Office lodged a protest with the West Java Provincial High Court against the decision of the Bandung District Court.
After a public hearing, the High Court of West Java overturned the judgment of the Bandung District Court, commuted the death sentence to Hari, and ordered him to pay more than 300 million rupiah in compensation.
