South Korea and the United States have decided to push for a new UN Security Council resolution to respond to North Korea's successive armed provocations.

North Korean nuclear representatives from South Korea and the United States agreed that a decisive response must be taken to prevent further escalation of tensions.

This is the first face-to-face meeting after North Korea's recent test-fires of intercontinental ballistic missiles and ICBMs.

In particular, we decided to promote a new UN Security Council resolution on North Korea for a decisive response.

Immediately after North Korea's ICBM launch, the US tried to adopt a press statement condemning North Korea at the UN Security Council, but it was canceled due to opposition from China and Russia.



However, President Sung Kim emphasized that there is no change in the US policy toward North Korea, which is a solution through diplomacy.
