Human rights organizations and observatories have expressed their deep concern over the health of Bahraini dissident and activist Abdulhadi Khawaja, accusing the Bahraini authorities of deliberate neglect against opponents, which they said amounts to a slow death.

"We are deeply concerned about the health of Abdulhadi Al-Khawaja, whose daughter says he is being denied medical treatment for the suspected glaucoma, which may lead to blindness as a result of the wounds he sustained in 2011 when he was tortured," Amnesty International said in a report. ".

And Maryam Khawaja, the daughter of the detained Bahraini activist, wrote a series of tweets on her official account on Twitter, “We are very worried about my father who just called and said he will not be allowed to make calls anymore, and he was repeating: Bahrain is free, Palestine is free, and the agents of Israel are down. The call was made while he was trying to call again, and I attached that to an audio recording."

Urgent topic:

We are very worried about my dad who just called and said he won't be allowed to make calls anymore, he was chanting #Bahrain is free #Palestine is free, and Israel agents drop - they kept dropping the call and he's trying to call again.

"During his call, he named people who participated in or were responsible for his torture, and we are more concerned about retaliation against him than they actually do," she added.

The observatory said, "In February, the Bahraini prison administration prevented Al-Khawaja from receiving health care, including medical appointments to follow up on the condition of his right eye, as he may have glaucoma, which threatens to cause him blindness. Depriving him of the treatment he was receiving to get rid of the effects of the torture he was subjected to in prison.

A salute to the global human rights activist.
