The deceased woman was elderly, multi-sick and had a deteriorating general condition.

She was admitted for investigation and, according to the region, had regular nursing and supervision during the night.

During a routine check-up later in the night, the woman was found trapped and dead in bed.

She had got stuck between the headboard and the raised bed gate.

Died of suffocation

The forensic autopsy shows that the woman died of suffocation after she probably tried to get out of bed on her own.

According to the clinic's internal incident analysis, what happened is considered a tragic accident and should not have been caused due to negligence or lack of medical care.

It should also not have been possible to establish that the bed had technical faults.

The region writes that there is now an action plan and targeted training efforts to prevent something similar from happening again.
