After the hospital, the medical deserts and the nursing homes, we are looking at early childhood.
Increase paternity leave and crèche places, lower taxes for all families from the first child… Who is offering what?

has therefore immersed itself in the proposals of the twelve candidates for the presidential election, in order to find out who is planning what for families over the next five years.
Extending parental leave
Unsurprisingly, it is on the left that we find proposals on this subject… and rather generous ones.
Jean-Luc Mélenchon (LFI) plans to extend the duration of parental leave (unspecified) and make it identical for both parents.
If Yannick Jadot (EELV) were elected, maternity leave would be supplemented by childcare leave, shared between each parent.
Then, parental leave would be compensated at 80% of the SMIC over a maximum of three years, and the parent could decide to take it until the majority of their child.
Anne Hidalgo (PS) and Fabien Roussel (PC) want to increase paternity (or second parent) leave from one month to 16 weeks, “including 6 compulsory” for the socialist candidate.
The report of the First 1,000 Days Commission, published in September 2020, recommended increasing paternity leave from 2 to 9 weeks.
The government finally extended it to one month.
“We did not get what we asked for, but there is progress, nuance Jaqueline Wendland, also a member of this Commission.
At least it's being talked about and it's a question that appears in all the programs.

But this specialist in perinatality recognizes that a subject, raised during the hearings of parents and experts, is passed over in silence.
“Parents are asking for continuity between pre and postnatal.
The idea that comes back is that we are well followed during pregnancy, but very isolated in the postpartum period.
We have no referent, too many barriers between professionals, and too much contradictory information.

Multiply reception for children under 3 years old
Eric Zemmour (Reconquest!) wants to create 60,000 crèche places, Anne Hidalgo 130,000 in ten years, and Emmanuel Macron (LREM) has undertaken to open an additional 200,000.
Jean-Luc Mélenchon goes further by promising 500,000 childcare places, in nurseries or home care, over five years.
A subject of great concern to young parents, according to Jaqueline Wendland.
But these commitments leave her skeptical.
“Certainly, the number of places is important, but we are not talking about the quality of the reception methods.
It's not walls and chairs that deal with children!
So the focus should be on the staff-to-staff ratio.
Having a referent is reassuring for the children and the parents throughout the three years of the crèche.
However, it is difficult to recruit and stabilize staff.
Contrary to popular belief, these are very specialized trades.
I do not see appearing in these programs either the training of personnel, or the promotion of Early Childhood professions.
“Moreover, almost all the candidates have pledged to increase the salaries of teachers (under certain conditions for Macron) and caregivers… but nothing on childcare auxiliaries.
Several candidates, on the other hand, propose an enforceable right: Macron, Mélenchon and Hidalgo thus agree that a family which does not obtain means of custody receives compensation.
On the contrary, Valérie Pécresse (LR) is betting on an increase in the ceiling of the tax credit for home jobs from 6,000 to 10,000 euros per year and 1,500 euros per child.
Help single-parent families
Jean-Luc Mélenchon wants to increase the staff of family justice to limit judgment times.
And increase the family support allowance, aid paid to single parents, like several other candidates.
Emmanuel Macron has promised to increase it by 50%, to increase it from 116 to 174 euros.
Marine Le Pen wants to double it to 230 euros, but only for French parents.
Change family taxation
With Anne Hidalgo, "the back-to-school allowance will be awarded as soon as you start kindergarten, and no longer at 6 years old".
Yannick Jadot wants to set family allowances at 70 euros per month and per child, from the first child, while they are only paid from the second child.
A proposal validated by Jean Lassalle.
On the right, the candidates want to return to the modulation of family allowances.
Since 2015, the amount has been halved for families with two children whose income is greater than 6,000 euros net per month, and by four for those exceeding 8,000 euros.
Valérie Pécresse, like Eric Zemmour, wants all families to receive the same family allowances.
Jean-Luc Mélenchon wants to put an end to the marital quotient (which smoothes the disparities in the income declarations of couples) by replacing it with a tax credit per child that all families could receive.
Marine Le Pen intends to reduce the taxes of certain families.
How? 'Or' What ?
By reserving family allowances for those of whom at least one of the two parents is French.
In addition, it plans to introduce a full tax share – against a half share today – at the birth of the second child.
Still on the far right, Eric Zemmour wants to repopulate the countryside by offering 10,000 euros for each new birth of parents who have been living in rural areas for at least two years.
Finally, he proposes, in a radical way, to suspend the family allowance of the parents of disruptive and absentee pupils.
