It was when the police were to stop a motorist for a routine vehicle and driver check at 12 o'clock on Saturday that the man refused to stop.
Periodically, the motorist drove at high speed and in the opposite direction at a roundabout in Värnamo.
Only when the man turned off into a parking lot was he ordered out of the car, which he did not follow.
The police needed to spray the driver with pepper spray on his face and he could later be taken into custody.
He is now suspected of drug driving, minor drug offenses through his own use, gross negligence in traffic and gross illegal driving.
No person was injured in connection with the intervention.
