[Information] Zheng Wentai, chairman and general manager of Xinglong Tropical Garden in Hainan Province, returned overseas Chinese from Indonesia

We hope that in our hands, we can take our generation, cut it down, and find ways to keep more of it on the earth, which is good for the climate and the environment.

I want to see what it looks like when we are still alive.

I say this is already very satisfying.

[Subtitles] On the afternoon of March 29, Mr. Zheng Wentai, a returned Indonesian who devoted his life to ecological restoration, died of illness at the age of 77.

[Explanation] At 10 a.m. on April 1, the farewell ceremony for the body of Mr. Zheng Wentai, a returned overseas Chinese from Indonesia and chairman of Xinglong Tropical Garden in Hainan Province, was held in Haikou.

Zheng Wentai's close relatives, close friends, and work partners mourn the "Yugong" of the rainforest who silently dedicated his life to the green ecology.

[Concurrent] Li Caiwang, Chairman of Hainan Overseas Chinese Federation

He is the glory of overseas Chinese.

Thirty years have been like one day, living in Xinglong deep mountains and old forests, guarding this mountain, protecting this green, and is a "dream catcher" who protects the green.

[Commentary] Zheng Wentai, whose ancestral home is Fujian, was born in Indonesia in 1945.

In 1992, with the "green" dream of saving endangered species and protecting a tropical rainforest in Hainan, he sold his assets, invested over 100 million yuan, and transformed tens of thousands of acres of wasteland into a "green paradise" for birds and insects. .

[Explanation] For decades, Zheng Wentai has used practical actions to reproduce the contemporary "foolish man" of returned overseas Chinese. His low-key behavior, advanced environmental awareness and unremitting dedication have always moved people around him.

[Concurrent] Lan Rixing, President of Xinglong Indonesian Overseas Chinese Friends Association

Mr. Zheng has very low requirements for his own life, as long as he has a bite to eat and a cup of tea to drink.

He did not pursue any material enjoyment, and (nor did he) travel around.

Put your whole life on the cause of ecological restoration.

[Concurrent] Huang Jing, a staff member of Xinglong Tropical Garden in Hainan Province

He gives the impression that he is a person who is particularly indifferent to fame and fortune.

What he loves most is working in the garden.

There is an office in the garden, but as far as I know, Mr. Zheng has not been to this office for decades.

His office is the whole garden.

Sometimes he takes care of the plants himself, and more time is that he is willing to watch others (do it), because he is old and everyone is reluctant to let him do it.

Workers sometimes plant trees, transplant lawns or fertilize (weed) grass, and he has to watch.

[Explanation] In Zheng Gaofeng's impression, his father Zheng Wentai was a tough and simple "gardener".

What they talk about the most together is about green and environmental protection.

He told reporters that his father's greatest wish was to bury the green "seed" in everyone's heart.

[Concurrent] Zheng Wentai stepson Zheng Gaofeng

His only wish is to implement China's green culture and green thinking into everyone's heart.

Because what he wanted to do (not only) was to protect the green plants on this (tens of thousands of acres) of land and restore the ecology here, (he) succeeded.

He also hopes to use such a green space as the basis for this garden, and then instill this green concept to the society, the government, and the general public, especially children, because this is a kind of sustainable development.

[Commentary] Zheng Wentai often said during his lifetime that it takes about 400 years to completely restore a tropical rainforest. Human life is very short, and it takes generations of people to work hard and fight for it.

[Information] Zheng Wentai, chairman and general manager of Xinglong Tropical Garden in Hainan Province, returned overseas Chinese from Indonesia

What have we done for this world, for this earth?

I think this is the meaning of life (should be).
