The Iraqi Oil Ministry said - in a statement - that the country's oil exports last March amounted to 100 million 563 thousand and 999 barrels, at a daily rate of 3,244 barrels per day, at an average price of more than 110 dollars, and revenues of 11.07 billion dollars, achieving the highest financial revenue since a year 1972.

The ministry added - in a statement issued yesterday, Friday - that the total quantities of crude oil exported from the oil fields in central and southern Iraq amounted to 99,115,064 barrels during last March, while from the Kirkuk fields through Ceyhan port, the exported quantities amounted to one million and 448 thousand. and 935 barrels.

And last February, Iraq recorded the highest rate of oil exports in 8 years, amounting to 8.5 billion dollars, as announced by the Ministry of Oil at the time.

The Russian war on Ukraine, which erupted more than a month ago, has pushed up crude prices.

The member countries of the "OPEC +" alliance agreed last Thursday to slightly increase their production, to mitigate the rise in prices.

After oil touched record prices on the seventh of last March, recorded during the 2008 financial crisis, exceeding the threshold of 130 dollars a barrel, prices returned and fell to close to 100 dollars a barrel on Friday.

Iraq relies more than 90% on oil revenues to finance its budget.

However, the country, with a population of more than 41 million people, suffers from a severe shortage of energy, dilapidated infrastructure, and frequent power cuts.

During the closure period associated with the spread of the Corona virus in the past two years, the price of a barrel of oil fell significantly, which put Iraq in front of an economic crisis.
