Prime Minister Kishida met with former LDP secretary general Nikai on the night of April 1 and agreed that it is important for the government and the party to unite in order to win the upper house election in the summer.

The meeting between Prime Minister Kishida and the former secretary general of the Liberal Democratic Party was held for about two hours while eating at a hotel in Tokyo on the night of April 1. Former Deputy Secretary General Hayashi and Minister of the Environment Yamaguchi were present.
