- The rescue service only goes down into the tunnel after a fire or explosion has been vented.

This means that it can take 24 hours before the rescue arrives, says Jerry Andersson, function manager for the work environment at Stockholm Water and Waste.

In the tunnels, special rescue chambers have therefore been built where personnel can quickly get to an emergency situation to get to safety.

For example, if it does, a large fire, a landslide or an explosion would break out.

A 14-kilometer-long tunnel is also being built from Västerort to Sickla to be able to transport the wastewater.
