• Nearly 3,000 adult refugees have already been welcomed in Occitania.

  • A little less than 2,000 displaced Ukrainians are housed in collective accommodation made available to them or with volunteer citizens.

The others are cared for by associations or with their families.

  • To better guide and inform them, a toll-free number has been set up and from April 11 a physical reception for their administrative procedures.

They sometimes arrive by their own means, sometimes through associations or are directed by State services from other regions.

Just under 3,000 Ukrainians who fled their war-torn country have found refuge in Occitania and been registered by state services, out of the 28,000 today in France.

To which must be added the children not counted.

Some have barely left their luggage on national territory and have not yet applied for temporary residence permits.

Many are simply in transit before going to Portugal or Spain where the diaspora is larger.

In Haute-Garonne, 733 adult nationals have already applied for temporary protection and 633 have obtained it.

To which must be added the children not counted in these procedures.

A precious sesame for a renewable six-month period which will allow them to be entitled to health protection, to work or even to a resource allowance.

But also to be able to enroll the children in school.

Thus, 118 Ukrainian pupils joined schools in Haute-Garonne.

But as a good part of the students continue to follow the courses of their school, college or high school remotely, this figure could remain limited.

5,500 accommodation places identified

But the first step when they arrive is above all to have a roof over their heads.

State services have thus identified 5,500 accommodation places.

Already in Occitania, 2,000 people are housed in collective arrangements, by associations or even individuals.

In the region, 650 Ukrainians are thus welcomed by voluntary citizens, who have made a room or an apartment available to them.

If some arrive directly at a relative's or by their own means, others go through the temporary reception of 24 to 48 hours which have been set up.

In Toulouse, “200 to 250 people went through the gymnasium that we made available, before being reoriented,” says Sacha Briand, elected official in charge of coordinating aid to Ukraine.

After this first site, some were able to go to a former Busca convent or to the former CEAT de la Roseraie, converted into collective housing.

In some departments of Occitania, this may be in a holiday center or leisure bases.

For the specific cases of unaccompanied minors and single mothers of children under three years old, the departmental council has opened around fifty places at the Ariane estate in Mondonville.

I visited this morning the reception center for Ukrainian refugees that we opened in @HauteGaronne at the Domaine d'Ariane in partnership with @ANRAS_officiel, for those in the child protection field.

I thank all the teams mobilized.

So that all these people, certainly disoriented by this change of life imposed by the war, can find their way more easily in their administrative procedures, a toll-free number has been set up.

Since March 25, five listeners speaking either Ukrainian or English have answered all questions on accommodation, health or schooling on 05.34.245.245.

And to complete, a physical reception will be set up from April 11, rue des Salenques in Toulouse.
