The Israeli occupation police decided to deploy 3,000 of its members in the Old City, the vicinity of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the neighborhoods of Jerusalem, coinciding with Friday prayers today, under the pretext of fears of confrontations erupting at the end of the prayer.

A state of tension prevailed in the Bab al-Amoud area in occupied Jerusalem, after a number of settlers gathered, chanted slogans against the Arabs, and attempted to storm the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Video clips - published by Palestinian media - showed a number of settlers gathered in the Bab al-Amoud area, chanting "Death to Arabs" in an attempt to provoke the Palestinians in the place.

The area also witnessed clashes between the Israeli police and settlers as they tried to disperse them and drive them away from the area.

This comes one day after the far-right Knesset member Itamar Ben Gvir stormed the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque after the occupation police authorized him to carry out the storming operation, which the Palestinians described as provoking the feelings of Muslims that may have serious repercussions.

reserve call

In a new escalation, Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz issued an exceptional order to call up 300 reservists to reinforce the police forces and confront the "escalation."

Al-Jazeera correspondent stated that this comes within the framework of the reinforcements announced by the security authorities and the Israeli army to confront what the occupation called "the continuous state of escalation in the West Bank and within the Green Line areas."

The Chief of Staff of the Israeli army, Aviv Kohavi, had previously called for carrying out military operations, to achieve what he described as a deterrent that stops the momentum of Palestinian operations.

Kochavi described the military operation carried out by the occupation forces in the city of Jenin, which resulted in the death of 3 Palestinians, as "a correct operation."

The occupation called the "wavebreaker" for the security operation intended for repression during the month of Ramadan, and ordered its units to deter and stop the "momentum of Palestinian operations" amid condemnation from the Palestinian Authority and the Palestinian factions.

And the occupation forces deployed additional military checkpoints on the main roads and axes from the center of the West Bank to the north, after sending military reinforcements to the seam points in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.
