A new film backed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) portrays Muslims as bloodthirsty villains who are supported by the "hostile" state of Pakistan.

In his article published by the British "Middle East Eye" website, writer Faisal Hanif said that the latest Bollywood blockbuster titled "The Kashmir Files" has achieved record sales at the box office, and talks about a systematic purification of the Brahmins (who follow the Hindu religion). ) in Muslim-majority Kashmir, but the story of the film has nothing to do with reality.

Films based on historical events derive their plot from real stories, but the film "The Kashmir Files" contains many fabrications with the aim of demonizing Muslims, according to the writer, who explained that the film received support from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party in India.

The events of the film include the killing of Hindu women by Muslims and their depiction of "bloodthirsty", in addition to referring to the plots of Pakistan, the eternal enemy of India, which is usually blamed for any misfortunes that befall India.

In the two decades following the Kashmiri uprising in 1989, a Hindu organization confirmed the killing of about 650 Brahmins in Kashmir.

Although the official numbers given by the police and government are lower, the "Kashmir Files" movie indicates that thousands of them were killed, according to researcher Ashok Swain.

The writer pointed out that the Indian forces were responsible for the killing of thousands of Kashmiri Muslims, and the discovery of unknown graves for many of them occurred in the villages of Kashmir.

The Indian state portrays Muslims in Kashmir as "jihadists", taking advantage of the propaganda of the "war on terror" to legitimize the atrocities against them.

political ambitions

The ticket sales of the giant Indian film industry exceed one billion dollars.

Throughout history, the government and security services have funded this industry to serve its political agenda.

The writer pointed out that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved the film "The Kashmir Files", and that the "Bharatiya Janata Party" sponsored the screening of the film in India and abroad, and is undoubtedly keen to benefit from the bias directed against Muslims in the country.

Meanwhile, social media campaigns have urged Indians to watch the film "if they are concerned about their future".

The writer pointed out that the ruling elites could not always exploit the film industry for their own ends, especially when the Indian government tried to use Indian singer Kishore Kumar to promote former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi's 20-point plan when she declared a state of emergency in the 1970s.

He added that the Indian film industry has slowly and systematically worked to transform Muslim characters and culture from inspirational to fundamentalist and terrorist.

He believed that this film, which strips the Kashmiris of their humanity by portraying them as bloodthirsty killers, is the most offensive to Muslims so far.

He cited a study conducted in 2011 that analyzed the content of 50 Bollywood films, and showed that about two-thirds of the films distort the image of Muslims.

The results showed that many films produced in the late eighties and nineties of the last century portrayed Muslims as evil characters.

Various features of Bollywood

The current state of the Hindi film industry is different from Bollywood 7 decades ago when Muslims in Hindi cinema broke new barriers through the epic story of an under-appreciated singer.

The singing of Muhammad Rafi, the king of musicals, has remained immortal in India and revealed the ability of Muslims to achieve astonishing artistic success despite discrimination.

Even in the 1980s, Islamic culture was praised as a role model.

The late Indian actor Dilip Kumar once stated that "the outstanding achievements of Muslim philosophers, thinkers, scholars, artists and reformers have been underestimated".

The writer pointed out that obliterating the entire achievements of Muslims on one hand, and fabricating a narrative to justify the severe measures against them on the other hand.

After watching the film, right-wing Hindus gave speeches urging Hindu men to forcibly marry Muslim women and have children with them in order to outnumber Muslims.
