From April 1, the classification criteria for commercial tourist accommodation (hotels, campsites, residential leisure parks, tourist residences, holiday villages) are updated, as every five years, said a press release on Thursday.

The 2022 ranking thus values efforts in terms of sustainable development: "27 criteria will be taken into account" to evaluate hotels (against 13 so far), and "12 will be mandatory" against 3 previously.

Among the criteria taken into account: "water and energy savings, better waste management, recycling, the use of short circuits, particularly in catering, customer awareness or even the training of hotel staff" , the statement said.

"Improving the customer journey through digital technology" will also be assessed, with the provision of wifi, a dematerialized check-in, or even "via a QR-code in the welcome booklet, tourist brochures or daily newspapers in digital version".

Also valued: "the fact of offering coworking spaces, modular meeting spaces, or even facilities in the rooms facilitating the practice of teleworking", but also "the pooling of equipment" between establishments.
