The Qingming holiday is approaching, traffic is concentrated, and traffic safety risks are prominent.

Recently, the Ministry of Public Security has analyzed traffic accidents during the Qingming Festival in the past three years, and issued a road traffic safety warning to the public.

Judging from the situation of road traffic accidents during the Qingming Festival in the past three years, the main features are as follows: First, the traffic accidents on the first day of the holiday were concentrated, and traffic accidents occurred frequently from 19:00 to 21:00 every day.

During the Qingming Festival in the past three years, the proportion of fatal traffic accidents and major traffic accidents on the first day was the highest, accounting for 35.3% and 55.6% of the total number of holidays respectively.

From the time distribution of each day, traffic accidents from 19:00 to 21:00 accounted for 15.4%, which was significantly higher than other time periods.

Second, rear-end collisions on expressways occur frequently, and failure to maintain a safe distance between vehicles is prominent.

Among expressway traffic accidents, rear-end collisions accounted for 53%; failure to maintain a safe distance between vehicles caused the most accidents, resulting in 15.8% of fatal traffic accidents.

Third, head-on collisions between vehicles on national and provincial highways frequently occurred, and accidents caused by speeding were prominent.

Among the traffic accidents on national and provincial highways, head-on collisions between vehicles accounted for 16.6%, followed by side collisions between vehicles traveling in the same direction, accounting for 14.3%.

Fourth, the number of overturned accidents on rural roads is concentrated, and the accident caused by unlicensed driving is prominent.

Of the national rollover accidents, 45.5% occurred on rural roads, and most of them occurred on curved slopes in rural mountainous areas.

Unlicensed driving caused the most accidents in rural road traffic accidents, which accounted for 20.5% of the fatal traffic accidents.

Fifth, vehicle collisions with pedestrians on urban roads frequently occurred, and drunk driving accidents were prominent.

Among urban road traffic accidents, vehicle collisions with pedestrians accounted for 18%, which accounted for 48.4% of similar accidents in the country; drunk driving caused the most traffic accidents, resulting in 7.9% of fatal traffic accidents.

Sixth, passenger cars and motorcycles frequently cause accidents, and the problem of not using "one helmet and one belt" is prominent.

Passenger car accidents caused the most fatal traffic accidents and larger traffic accidents, accounting for 40% and 61.1% of the total respectively; 44.8% of the fatalities in automobile accidents did not use seat belts as required.

The fatal traffic accidents and major traffic accidents caused by motorcycle accidents accounted for 19.5% and 11.1% of the total respectively; 71.8% of the fatalities in motorcycle and electric bicycle accidents did not wear safety helmets.

Seventh, traffic accidents on rainy days in the southern region are prominent.

Traffic accidents on rainy days in the southern region accounted for 77.3% of the national total, among which traffic accidents in Guangdong and Guangxi were prominent.

The risk of accidents caused by speeding in rainy days is high, and the Qingming holiday in the past three years has resulted in 2 major traffic accidents.

The Ministry of Public Security reminds that when traveling by car, you should learn about local festivals, epidemic prevention and control policies, weather, and road conditions in advance, and plan your travel time and route reasonably.

When driving, try to avoid long-distance self-driving, driving at night, consciously resist illegal behaviors such as drinking and driving, speeding, fatigue driving, and using mobile phones while driving, and pay attention to courteous pedestrians.

All passengers must wear seat belts when driving a car, and safety helmets must be worn when riding motorcycles and electric bicycles.

When driving on the expressway, keep a safe distance and speed. When driving on a rainy day, reduce the speed and reduce lane changing and overtaking.

When the traffic volume is heavy, pay attention to queuing up, do not overtake and cut in line, and do not occupy the emergency lane.

In the event of a traffic accident, keep in mind that "the car pulls over, the person evacuates, and then calls the police" to avoid secondary accidents.

When driving through rural areas, when encountering sharp curves and steep slopes, long downslopes, or roads facing water and cliffs, you should slow down and drive slowly. When driving through rural and mountainous roads, you should pay attention to the vehicles and pedestrians on both sides of the road.

Do not drive vans and motorcycles without a license or carry passengers in excess, and do not illegally carry people when driving trucks, tractors, and tricycles.

When traveling by car during the holidays, you must fasten your seat belts throughout the whole process, and do not take "black cars" outside the station to solicit passengers and join groups.
