Aboul Gheit stresses the importance of a political solution in Yemen

Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, stressed that a political solution remains the only way to end the Yemeni crisis.

Aboul Gheit welcomed the Yemeni consultations currently hosted by Riyadh, considering that these consultations represent a step on the way to achieving this solution, which will spare the blood of Yemenis, restore stability to their country, and prevent Yemen from being used as a platform to attack its neighbors.

Aboul Gheit reiterated his condemnation of the repeated attacks launched by the Houthis on Saudi Arabia and the UAE, which represent a flagrant violation of international law and international humanitarian law, given that these attacks target civilian facilities and endanger the lives of the population.

And an official source in the General Secretariat of the League quoted Aboul Gheit as saying that "Al-Houthi's continuation of these aggressive acts, and his rejection of all peace initiatives and ceasefire, must be met by a firm and unified response from the international community, including the importance of the United States of America looking again at Re-classifying them as a terrorist group, especially since Resolution 2624 issued by the Security Council last February clearly states that Al-Houthi is classified as a terrorist group.
