Palestinians and millions around the world watched on the morning of September 6, 2021, the escape of 6 Palestinian prisoners from the heavily guarded and fortified Israeli prison, "Gilboa", through a tunnel under the prison, it is said that they used a "tablespoon" to dig it, which lasted for months.

This great event, which is described by the Palestinians as "Operation Tunnel of Freedom", turned into a dramatic work entitled "The Badge of Victory", which will be shown as a series of daily episodes on Palestinian, Arab and Islamic channels, during the holy month of Ramadan.

sexy details

The Palestinian artist, Ali Nisman, embodies the personality of the prisoner Mahmoud Al-Ardah, who is known as the leader and mastermind of the operation, and tells Al-Jazeera Net that the series reveals important details obtained from the prisoners themselves inside the prison, and the Israeli occupation authorities kept them secret, and the many news and reports that dealt with the process and its repercussions did not reveal it. .

Mahmoud al-Ardah and five of his companions were serving life sentences for long years, they are: Muhammad al-Ardah, Ayham Kammaji, Yaqoub Qadri, Munadil Nafi`at, and Zakaria al-Zubaidi. And re-arrest them and put them on trial again.

The escape operation received widespread attention, as Gilboa Prison is one of the most secure facilities in Israel, and it is called the "Treasury".

Nisman says that the heroic action of these six prisoners cannot be reduced to two words, "escape and arrest."

Nisman studied the personality of the model well, who previously escaped from an Israeli prison in 2014, describing him as "a character who does not believe in the impossible, and has a creative mind, who employs his simple capabilities in order to make a great work."

Despite this solid character of the model, Nisman discovered, during his research and his embodiment of the role in the series, that he is "a human being who loves life and children, tender and emotional."

resistance art

Nisman, who has previously acted in works of art that dealt with issues related to the conflict with the occupation, such as the series "The Commando" and "Gate of Heaven", says that it is "important to transform Palestinian struggle stations into dramatic works of art, confronting the plans of the Israeli ideological invasion, and the relentless Israeli efforts to distort History and the image of the national struggle.

Nisman includes these works in the context of what he described as "resistance art", and believes that art is no less important than other aspects of resistance in the extended conflict with the Israeli occupation on all fronts.

He said, "We are in a state of open conflict with the occupation, and our goal as Palestinian artists is not stardom, as much as contributing to our talent in supporting our national narrative, glorifying heroic deeds, and exposing the crimes that Israel commits daily and has not stopped since the catastrophe in 1948."

Nisman hopes that the series "The Badge of Victory", and other Palestinian artworks, will contribute to what he called "the awakening of the nation" and unify it in the face of Israeli dangers, which do not target Palestinians alone.

Freedom Ambassadors

The events overlap during the series, whose organizers did not overlook a sensitive issue that has been distorted in works of art soon, namely, "smuggled sperm", which the prisoners resorted to as a face of resistance and subjugation of the will of the jailer, and resulted in their birth to children, whom the Palestinians call "ambassadors" Freedom".

The artist, Hana Al-Ghoul, embodies the role of the wife of a prisoner, who had the experience of procreation by means of a "smuggled sperm" from her husband who has been imprisoned for many years in the occupation prisons.

Hana resorted to meeting the wives of prisoners who actually experienced the experience, living with them and getting to know the smallest details, which she says - to Al Jazeera Net - that helped her a lot in performing this highly sensitive role.

Hana described the patient Palestinian woman who is waiting for the freedom of her captive husband, as “the wife of a martyr with a suspended sentence,” and said that this wife has the right to give birth to children that enhance her patience and steadfastness. their birth.

Because of her belief in the importance of the role, Hana says that she is completely devoted to it, and adds that the wives of prisoners live in suffering no less than the suffering of their husbands behind bars, and despite the complicated procedures in the process of smuggling sperm and verifying it, and the presence of a legal fatwa that supported this method of procreation, the mothers of the "Ambassadors of Freedom" “They face challenges, and they must be supported.

Hana previously played complex roles that dealt with sensitive social issues, such as her role in the series "Birth of Dawn", in which she was the mother of two sons, one of whom was a member of the resistance, and the second fell into the mud of communication with the occupation.

Objectives and challenges

The director of "The Badge of Victory" Hossam Abu Dan summed up the purpose of the series, documenting the heroism of the six prisoners and refuting the false Israeli accounts, in addition to that it represents a practical response to acts he described as "fallen" that seeks to sow doubt in national issues, especially with regard to prisoners.

Abu Dan told Al Jazeera Net that the work's coming to light was not easy, and was encountered by a number of obstacles and challenges, which began with a struggle over time in order to obtain accurate details from inside the prison, and from the heroes of the "Freedom Tunnel" themselves, to finish the work and translate it into several languages, It was shown in the month of Ramadan, during which the audience's follow-up to television dramas increases.

The staff also faced field challenges, which were not without risks, while filming the events of the series in Gaza, and in areas adjacent to the Israeli security fence, in light of the lack of special places for filming, and Israel prevented the introduction of modern photographic and artistic production equipment to the besieged Gaza Strip for 15 years.

And the Israeli unmanned reconnaissance plane, which the people of Gaza call “the dungeon” because of the severe disturbance it causes, posed a great challenge during the filming of the series, according to Abu Dan. interfering with us and obstructing our work.
