According to reports, on the 29th local time, the latest estimates released by the CDC showed that the Omicron subvariant BA.2 has become the dominant strain circulating in the United States.

Infections caused by BA.2 accounted for 51% to 59% of U.S. new crown infections in the week ended March 26, up from an estimated 39% the previous week, according to the agency's model.

Meanwhile, there are signs that infections are rising again in parts of the northeastern U.S.

According to the CDC, the region has the most BA.2 infections, with regions including New York and New Jersey accounting for more than 70% of BA.2 infections.

Last week, Fauci, an American infectious disease expert, predicted that the number of infections caused by BA.2 will surpass that of the Omicron variant BA.1 in the future.
