Russia: We have seen positive developments in the Istanbul negotiations

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that his country's negotiations with Ukraine witnessed "positive developments" during the recent meeting of the two countries' delegations in Istanbul.

He explained in a press conference, on Wednesday, that Ukraine presented its proposals at yesterday's meeting "clearly and written on paper", describing this step as a "positive development."

He added that he was unable to make optimistic statements, saying: "We cannot say that we have achieved a real turning point so far, there are many things that we have to do."

On Tuesday, Istanbul witnessed talks between the Russian and Ukrainian delegations at Dolmabahce Palace.

On February 24, Russia launched a military operation in Ukraine, which was followed by angry international reactions and the imposition of "tough" economic and financial sanctions on Moscow.

To end the operation, Russia requires Ukraine to abandon any plans to join military entities, including the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), and to adhere to complete neutrality, which Kyiv considers an "interference in its sovereignty."
