The fighting continues in Ukraine.

In Wednesday's Aktuellt, Lieutenant Colonel Joakim Paasikivi focused on the situation in three Ukrainian cities.

There have been many reports about Mariupol.

Paasikivi believes that it will only be days before the city falls:

- They probably have no chance the Ukrainians, the question is whether they die on the spot or will be able to withdraw.

"A tactical regrouping"

Kharkiv is the country's second largest city.

It is located in an area that has become strategically important for Russia to take over.

Russian forces are trying with a vertical line towards Donbass to cut off the Ukrainian units in the pocket that is being formed.

If the Russians manage to make a pair of pliers, they have made a bed to take the whole of Donbass.

There have been fierce battles for a while that continue.

It is clear that Russia has a focus on this area.

On Tuesday, Russia said it would reduce its presence in the capital, Kyiv.

Still, there are reports of continued fighting.

- We have received British and American information that Russia has begun to take troops out of the city.

I think this is a tactical regrouping.

It probably has nothing to do with the peace process itself, but you have to start replacing your worn-out units, because they no longer last.
