One third of our life is spent in sleep, and sleep is closely related to the health of each of us.

At the same time, data shows that nearly three-quarters of people in the country have had sleep problems, and difficulty falling asleep has become the number one problem.

Getting a good night's sleep seems to be getting harder and harder for Chinese people.

In order to arouse the attention of the whole society to sleep health, during the 3.21 World Sleep Day, the China Sleep Research Association and Rousseau co-hosted the 2022 World Sleep Day China theme release and the launching ceremony of a large-scale popular science activity.

The event released the public welfare short film "Healthy Sleep, Good Night China" produced by People's Daily Online and specially supported by Deuce. The short film appealed to Chinese people to sleep well through the elaboration of healthy sleep by representatives of different occupational groups, and expressed in the film: "Healthy you. , is China's most precious wealth."

The event also released the "2022 Chinese National Healthy Sleep White Paper" (hereinafter referred to as the "White Paper").

A ten-year white paper, recording the changing times with sleep

On World Sleep Day in 2013, the China Sleep Research Association and Rousseau released the "2013 National Sleep Index White Paper" (hereinafter referred to as the "White Paper"), which opened the prelude to the ten-year cooperation between the two parties and the promotion of the concept of healthy sleep by complementing industry and academia.

In the past ten years, the white paper has reflected the sleep scene of Chinese people in different periods from the perspectives of entrepreneurs, middle class, youth, teenagers, netizens, sports people and other groups, and recorded the life of Chinese people and the changes of the times from the perspective of sleep.

According to the "China Youth Sleep White Paper" released in 2019, 62.9% of teenagers sleep less than 8 hours, and heavy schoolwork pressure has become the first factor affecting children's sleep, accounting for 67.3%.

The impact of 3C products on sleep accounted for 27.1%.

In 2021, the Ministry of Education has successively launched the "sleep order" and "double reduction" policies. This year's white paper shows that the sleep time of primary and secondary school students is still insufficient, but the sleep time of 60% of primary and middle school students has increased to varying degrees, of which the sleep time has increased by more than 2 hours. up to 9.41%; up to 21.66% for 1 to 2 hours; 28.88% for 0 to 1 hour.

The "2020 White Paper on Sleeping Chinese Residents During the National Stay-at-Home Period" released at the beginning of the 2020 epidemic found that during the epidemic, Chinese residents slept more than 8 hours on average. "Staying at home, sleeping well, and improving immunity are contributing to the country." A true portrayal of the Chinese people fighting against the epidemic.

Today's white paper shows that under the general policy of "dynamic clearing", my country's epidemic prevention and control are in an orderly manner, and the current rhythm of Chinese people's life is gradually returning to the right track.

The trend of going to bed early and getting up early has picked up, and many Chinese people compress their sleep time for work and study.

Compared with 2020, the number of people who fell asleep in the early morning decreased by 20%, the proportion of people who slept less than 7 hours increased by 25%, and the proportion of people who slept after 9 a.m. decreased from nearly 30% to 16.6%.

At the same time, with the continuous acceleration of my country's modernization process, the accelerating pace of work and life of Chinese people, and the gradual popularization of mobile Internet and 5G technology, various emerging occupations continue to emerge, and the sleep problems of Chinese people have also undergone new changes.

This year's white paper for the first time showed the society the sleep conditions of emerging professional groups such as car-hailing drivers and online anchors, and recorded the life of different groups of contemporary Chinese, becoming a unique window for people to understand the work and life of different groups of people.

Popular science promotes "Healthy China", a long way to go

The report of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China put forward the development strategy of "Healthy China". In 2019, the National Health and Medical Commission issued the "Healthy China Action (2019-2030)", which included sleep health as the main action indicators, and formally proposed China's sleep duration standard. It is called the "sleep national standard" by the outside world.

Behind the promulgation of relevant documents and policies is the grim reality: the expansion and rejuvenation of sleep disorders has become an increasingly serious social and medical problem.

Data from the white paper shows that 73.7% of Chinese people have trouble sleeping, and one-third of them say they have "difficulty falling asleep".

Mobile phones have become the biggest obstacle to Chinese people's sleep. 68.9% of night sleep activities are related to mobile phones. Over 60% of teenagers will compress their sleep time to play mobile phones, games and other entertainment activities. The group of 6-18-year-olds who sleep less than 8 hours is the same as An increase of 4% compared to 2019.

Popularizing sleep knowledge and promoting healthy sleep has thus become an important part of the "Healthy China" campaign.

In recent years, academia and industry have actively responded to the "Healthy China" initiative. The academic group represented by the China Sleep Research Association, the sleep industry represented by Mousse, and various social forces have spread the concept of healthy sleep and promoted healthy sleep. From the perspectives of sleep culture and the implementation of healthy sleep science, we will carry out theme publicity activities, publish academic research results, and continuously enrich people's knowledge of sleep science, so as to improve people's health science literacy.

With the efforts and support of many parties, the release and popularization of "World Sleep Day • China Theme" has become the most important part of the development of sleep medicine and popularization of sleep science activities in China. The concrete implementation of the "China" action has laid a good social foundation.

Healthy sleep, starting with "go to bed an hour earlier tonight"

The data from the ten-year sleep white paper shows that the sleep problem of Chinese people is mainly to sleep late, and there is a common problem chain of "not paying attention to sleep → going to bed late, staying up late → insufficient sleep time". and sleep disorders.

Some Chinese people are aware of the importance of sleep, but they have no will to improve their sleep and cannot find an effective method.

At the same time, if the average Chinese sleep an extra hour, the related sleep problems will also be reduced a lot.

At the white paper release event on March 17, the China Sleep Research Society, Mousse and People's Daily Online jointly launched the "Sleep One Hour Early Tonight" healthy sleep public welfare activity.

At the same time, during the World Sleep Day, the "First Screen of the National Gate" in Beijing, the Bund in Shanghai, the new landmark in Chongqing, and the Xiaomanyao in Guangzhou will be lit up with the same theme.

According to Yao Jiqing, vice chairman and president of Deuce Group, Deuce hopes to use the lights in the four cities to "sleep an hour earlier tonight" to convey sleep care for the Chinese people, arouse the public's attention to healthy sleep, and hope that Chinese people will "go to bed early tonight". Go to bed one hour earlier tonight" to form a healthy sleep concept and develop good sleep habits.

As Olympic champion Chen Yibing said in the public welfare short film "Healthy Sleep Good Night China": "Sleep and health are closely linked."

It is believed that with the continuous improvement of people's health status and the fairness and accessibility of basic medical and health services, as well as the full support of academia, industry and all sectors of society, "Healthy Sleep and Good Night in China" will be more than one sentence sent to all Chinese people. It is a true portrayal of every Chinese enjoying a better life and building a healthy China.
