Pupils who are about to take their final exams will be able to get advice online in the coming weeks.

Hesse is offering video consultation hours for the first time to provide psychological support in view of the stress caused by the corona pandemic and the preparation for exams, the Ministry of Education announced in Wiesbaden on Wednesday.

Having to write a final exam is a challenge even in normal times, said Minister of Education Alexander Lorz (CDU).

The pandemic has increased this again.

According to the ministry, there are three dates (April 6th, May 24th, June 15th) for consultation hours until the summer holidays.

A lecture will be offered on the subject of “Successfully mastering the time leading up to the exams”.

There is also the opportunity for questions and individual advice via chats and one-on-one discussions with school psychologists.

With the consultation hours, “we create a low-threshold support service that can help schoolchildren to deal with the very natural fear of their final papers, to overcome learning barriers and to work towards the exams in a focused manner,” says Lorz.

According to the ministry, the offer from the Hessian school psychologist and the state student representative is part of the “lion strong” support program to catch up after the pandemic.
