A man dies after a logging accident in Mézères

The small town of Mézères (Haute-Loire) was the scene of a fatal logging accident on Monday.

A 74-year-old former municipal employee took advantage of the beautiful weather to cut wood in the afternoon, as

reports .

No longer hearing the sound of the chainsaw, one of his brothers went to the site concerned, where he discovered the victim, unconscious on the ground.

The intervention of the firefighters of Emblavez, Yssingeaux and Retournac, as well as that of a team from Samu 43 did not make it possible to avoid the worst.

The gendarmes are trying to determine the circumstances of this fatal accident.

“The beech he was working on was visibly split in two, before tipping over and hitting him violently, which would have caused his fall”, explains to
