On the afternoon of March 29, Mr. Zheng Wentai, an "outstanding figure in the overseas Chinese community in China" and a returned overseas Chinese from Indonesia, died of illness.
Zheng Wentai was the chairman and general manager of Hainan Wanning Xinglong Tropical Garden Co., Ltd., and devoted his life to ecological restoration.
Zheng Wentai, originally from Fujian, was born in Indonesia in 1945.
In 1992, with the "green" dream of protecting a tropical rainforest in Hainan and saving precious species that are on the verge of extinction, he sold his assets and invested 100 million yuan to build a tropical rainforest original ecological garden - Xinglong Tropical Garden in Xinglong, Wanning.
Zheng Wentai and the Xinglong Tropical Garden he created have become a typical example of ecological environmental protection in Hainan.
Zheng Wentai's advanced environmental awareness and strong and unremitting spirit have touched all sectors of society. He has been awarded the honorary titles of "Child Model", "Aiqiong Chi Chi" and "Child Model" by the Hainan Provincial People's Government for many times. Outstanding figures in the overseas Chinese community in China" and won the title of "2018 Global Overseas Chinese People of the Year".
