According to Volker Perthes, the Sudanese political and military actors agree on a few points: on the need to end the violence, on a technocratic government, on the adoption of urgent laws, on the unification of the army, on representation of women in government and the need for fair elections.

But he warned: “

Time,

he said,

is not on Sudan's side.

While the fifteen member states of the Council, without exception, including the United Kingdom, France, the United States and others such as Albania, Brazil and Mexico, welcomed the efforts of the United Nations, the Ghana nevertheless wished to strengthen cooperation with African authorities.

China, for its part, called for the rapid lifting of the sanctions on the country and for economic support, a request supported by India.

Russia, for its part, has asked the secretary-general to focus on the new institutions needed to hold elections, rather than "

secondary issues like human rights, rule of law and gender issues

". ".

Finally, the Sudanese ambassador encouraged UN mediation, but "

on condition that the whole process belongs to the Sudanese

", he said, stressing that his role should "

be limited to facilitating dialogue between the parties, without attempting to influence the outcome of their consultations

 ".
