The Chairman and CEO of DP World, Sultan bin Sulayem, said that the “Covid-19” pandemic has proven the fragility of the global supply chain, stressing that there is a need to be more flexible and sustainable, to ensure the economic benefits that must be distributed fairly and equally between the scientist.

He added during a session at the World Summit of Governments held yesterday, under the title “Redrawing the Lines of Trade”, that “the world has been concerned over the past two years about how to provide vaccines for the Corona virus, and after all this period, not everyone has obtained the vaccine, although the best way is For recovery, one party should not benefit at the expense of the other.”

He pointed out that "DP World played an important role in distributing medical supplies, through its global network, to reach countries and peoples in dire need," stressing that "the World Government Summit is an important platform for exchanging ideas and an opportunity to formulate new, more effective policies."

He added that the "Covid-19" pandemic, and the accident that hampered navigation through the Suez Canal, are among the lessons learned that require the need to change policies and consolidate cooperation, to avoid its consequences in the future.

He pointed out that DP World was keen to take the necessary initiatives to communicate with its customers and provide alternatives to shipping and supply, and is proud to sign more than 100 partnerships with different countries and destinations.

He added that there are examples of countries whose economies have changed thanks to the role played by DP World, such as the Dominican Republic, which had a small and limited market when DP World entered it 15 years ago, and it became a strong country in this field, and it has an outlet in the Dubai Free Zone.

Rwanda also represents another example of success, and a platform for supplying freight to several neighboring countries in Africa, which have great opportunities and only have infrastructure problems.

He said that the lesson learned from the pandemic, which helped DP World develop its tools, is realizing the importance of adapting technology in this field, so it created digital platforms that allowed it to communicate with everyone, as well as analyze information and turn it into data, and then decisions and solutions in partnership with scientists.

The most prominent of these platforms is (Dubai.com), which provides great solutions for merchants, in addition to a digital platform for shippers, similar to the popular hotel reservation platform.
