The Romanian army's own photos from Monday show how a military diving team puts cables on the mine that was found in Romanian water, about 70 kilometers from the coast - before a large explosion sends a jet of water high into the air.

It is one in a series of mines found drifting in the Black Sea since the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

On the same day, Turkish authorities discovered a mine near the Bulgarian border.

And on March 26, they disarmed another mine north of Istanbul.

Warns fishermen

Turkey has been in contact with both Russia and Ukraine, but has not raised any suspicions about who is behind the mines, reports the Washington Post.

Bulgaria has warned fishermen and other residents of several regions of the Black Sea mines.

Blame each other

The Russian security service FSB has previously accused Ukraine of laying out more than 400 mines that have since become detached from their anchors due to storms.

Ukraine responds that it is a lie and says that Russia is trying to cut off parts of the Black Sea.
