At 22 o'clock on Monday evening, the police received an alarm that a person had been threatened with a weapon on Västra Åsgatan in the district of Nyfors in Eskilstuna.
Just a few minutes later, an alarm was received about a shooting nearby.
- There were several people who called in that loud bangs were heard.
We went there and have secured tracks that make us convinced that there was a shooting, says police spokesman Johnny Gustavsson.
Had weapons in bag
Due to the shooting and the previous gun threat, the police began to check people who were moving in the central parts of Eskilstuna.
- One of the people was a man in his 35s and it turned out that he was carrying a weapon in a bag.
He is now suspected of a serious weapon crime and has been arrested, says Johnny Gustavsson.
A little later, a man in his 20s was also arrested.
He is also suspected of a serious gun crime and has been arrested by prosecutors.
- Now we have to spend the day sorting this out and see if there are any connections between the events.
We do not know that at the moment, says Johnny Gustavsson.
