The “United Nations” platform at Expo 2020 Dubai celebrated the Emirati director Al Dana Al Hashimi, in a celebration concerned with cinema and artwork for “People of Determination”, during which the artist recounted her directing experience and her “visual disability” challenge.

Al-Dana told "Emirates Today", "The Zayed Foundation for People of Determination invited me to be at the United Nations platform at the International Exhibition, and to talk about my directing experience, especially with series concerned with (People of Determination), most notably (Dreams Drawn by Dust), which He brought together 28 creators from this category from 11 countries, in various disciplines, whether in writing, photography, directing and soundtracks, to show their artistic abilities and diverse talents, in a work in which I held the position of assistant director for Syrian director Abdul Bari Abu al-Khair.

She explained: “I presented on the United Nations platform my experience in the world of cinema and television, because I graduated in 2020 from the universities of Turkey and Sweden, and I belong to this category due to my visual disability, and my visual dependence on 25% of the left eye only, in an opportunity that allowed me to summarize the three series that are concerned with With People of Determination,” pointing out that the three works were filmed between Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, between the months of December and February, and they are “Dreams Drawn by Dust” and “The House of Life,” in which relied on actors who came specially from Syria, and “Direct barriers,” which included Artists from the Sultanate of Oman and the Emirates.

Al-Dana added: “My association with the camera started from my early childhood, as the lenses and the photos that I took made it easy for me to see things as they really are, which I cannot see with the naked eye, because I see 25% with the left eye only, before I was able, armed with the will, to transform the dream. In fact, through my university studies at universities in Turkey and Sweden, which gave me in 2020, despite the challenges of the Corona pandemic, the opportunity to obtain a university degree, and opened the door for me to accept a new challenge, and to start working with technical teams of people of determination.

And she continued, "Expo 2020 in its comprehensiveness and uniqueness in the history of international exhibitions (Expo) presented a different view of art in all its forms, including creative, television and cinematography, in an opportunity that allowed me, through the United Nations platform, to send messages to the people of determination to whom I belong, that the will to be It is the compass, and that they are able to achieve all their goals, if they are armed with the belief that disability cannot stand in the way of turning their dreams into reality. On the contrary, it must be the catalyst for their will to overcome the impossible.”
