Strong emotion in the small town of Neau, west of Laval (Mayenne).
A man was killed on Sunday shortly before 6 p.m. by setting himself on fire inside his home.
According to the first elements of the investigation, he would have doused himself with gasoline.
Also hit by the flames, his companion was seriously injured.
It was the neighbors who, hearing her cries as she left the house burning, managed to save her, reports France Bleu Mayene.
She was urgently transferred to the burns department of the Tours hospital.
Many firefighters intervened.
Two helicopters were deployed.
A psychological cell was also opened in the town of Neau.
The couple had no children.
