Alassane Bala Sakandé was arrested very early on Sunday.

According to his lawyers, the gendarmes have been watching in front of his home since the day before, that is to say on Saturday night.

In a press release, his councils announce that the arrest of the president of the former ruling party is linked to remarks made during a press conference last Thursday.

During this conference, the president of the People's Movement for Progress demanded the unconditional and immediate release of

deposed president Roch Marc Christian Kaboré

.

He is suspected of being the instigator of a poster campaign for the release of the ex-president.

He had also pointed out that the coup was the work of part of the Burkinabè Armed Forces, reporting comments attributed to Lieutenant-Colonel

Paul Henri Damiba

.

Based on this fact, he argued that there are always republicans and patriots within the Burkinabè armed forces.

He is accused of wanting to divide the Armed Forces by these statements.

Alassane Bala Sakandé was finally released after hours spent at the gendarmerie.

"

No charges have been brought against him

," said one of his lawyers.

According to these lawyers, his arrest and detention had neither been ordered nor authorized by the legal prosecution authorities.
