- It is like a pregnancy that has lasted for two years and now it is time for childbirth, said Walid Hams, chairman of Helsingborg Mosque.

The parish has been in its old premises, an old workshop, since 1993. It is too cramped and therefore a new mosque will be built which has room for the parish's approximately 1400 members.

- What we have now is very, very little compared to the need that exists, says Walid Hams.

The construction is estimated to cost SEK 40 million and has, according to Walid Hams, been financed by donations from private individuals and companies.

In addition to a mosque, a car park and business premises will also be built in the area.
