During the traffic week, the police focused on controlling the speed of motorists in densely populated areas, ie at schools, in residential areas and in the city center.

But the traffic week has also been a gateway to finding other crime.

In connection with the speeding, several drug offenses, wanted persons and theft offenses have also been revealed.

In total, the police caught 1,664 speeding drivers during the national traffic week in the Central region - which includes Västmanland, Stockholm and Uppsala.

For Västmanland alone, 487 speeders were caught.

This is an increase since last year when 335 speeders were stopped by the police in the county during the traffic week with a focus on densely populated areas.

This year, nine drug offenses, three thefts and one wanted person were also discovered in connection with the traffic week, which took place on 7–13 March.

The Road Safety Week will be held on ten different occasions in 2022 and this was the second time it was held.

The next time the police carry out the operation is week 16. The traffic safety week focuses on different areas at each occasion, such as commercial traffic and alcohol and drugs.
