The European Union representative for the revival of the Iranian nuclear deal, Enrique Mora, said that he will go to Tehran today, Saturday, to meet with Iran's chief negotiator, while Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian said that his country is close to the point of consensus in the nuclear negotiations.

The European envoy added on his Twitter page that "bridging the remaining gaps in the Iranian nuclear talks must end these negotiations... a lot is at stake."

For his part, Abdullahian said during a television interview in Lebanon, "His country has approached the point of consensus in the nuclear negotiations, but what is important to us is how to lift sanctions and guarantees."

He pointed out that "the United States has tried several times, in recent weeks, to start direct negotiations with Tehran on the outstanding issues." He added, "If the administration of US President Joe Biden is serious, it must show good faith before considering direct negotiations."

Traveling to Tehran tomorrow to meet @Bagheri_Kani.

Working on closing the remaining gaps in the #ViennaTalks on the #JCPOA.

We must conclude this negotiation.

Much is at stake.

Amir Abdollahian announced that Tehran had told the western side that the Americans "must prove goodwill by canceling one of the sanctions imposed on Iran."

The Iranian minister explained that he "traveled to Moscow and met his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, with the aim of obtaining clarifications regarding the Russian demands related to the nuclear agreement," and said, "Moscow informed his country that it would support the nuclear agreement the moment it is reached."

On the other hand, US officials were more cautious in their assessment of efforts to revive the 2015 agreement that limits Iran's nuclear program in return for the lifting of economic sanctions imposed on it.

US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said - Wednesday - that the United States and its allies have made progress in the Iran nuclear talks, but there are still problems, and it is not clear if they will be resolved.

The talks in Vienna, in their latest round, came close to reaching an agreement when Russia made last-minute demands to the United States and insisted on guarantees that sanctions imposed on Moscow over its war on Ukraine would not harm its trade with Iran.
