Expo concludes 6 historic months: March 31 will witness a party that dazzles the world

The curtain falls on Expo 2020 Dubai, on March 31, with a closing ceremony that is expected to dazzle the world and look towards the future. It will be held in Al Wasl Square, the beating heart of the first World Expo to be held in the region, and the same place where the magical opening ceremony was held 182 days ago.


International art stars such as Christina Aguilera, Nora Jones and Yo-Yo Ma will add a charming atmosphere to the dazzling place, as well as the presence of more than 20 huge screens distributed throughout the Expo 2020 Dubai site, including the main platforms, the celebration garden, and pavilions of various countries, to enable everyone to enjoy with these amazing offers.

The festivities will continue throughout the night, with a series of full major performances, which will be performed by each artist individually on the Jubilee Stage and Dubai Millennium Theatre.


The evening begins at seven in the evening, UAE time, with the young Emirati girl who participated in the opening ceremony, where she will accompany the audience on another family trip. The last one before it reaches its full potential.

Later in the evening, Grammy Award-winning cellist Yo-Yo Ma will perform a concert at the Dubai Millennium Theatre, starting at 9:15 pm UAE time;

Grammy Award-winning German singer Norah Jones will entertain visitors with her special concert on the Jubilee Stage starting at 9pm;

Legendary pop singer Christina Aguilera will perform on the Jubilee Stage starting at quarter past eleven.


The "Closing Ceremony" crew includes more than 400 technicians and volunteers from 56 different countries, who will wear 745 costumes dedicated to crowning the closing ceremony of Expo 2020 Dubai.

Forty members of a children's choir based in the United Arab Emirates will perform the country's national anthem "Aishi Beladi", accompanied by the Paradise Women's Orchestra, led by Yasmina Sabbah.


Also on stage will be the World String Expo 2020, a troupe of 16 talented international musicians, led by Maestro Harut Fazlian, and talented Italian pianist Eleanor Constantini, known to many visitors to the international event after participating in the captivating "Flying Piano" show. Presented in the World of Opportunity - Opportunity Suite.


The closing ceremony, which will be broadcast live on the Expo virtual platform and Expo TV, will revive the audience's memory by reviewing some of the special moments in Al Wasl Square, including the display of calligraphic verses of poetry in the sky from the poems of the Emirati poet Aousha bint Khalifa Al Suwaidi;

the falcon from the spectacular theatrical performance "The Journey of the Fifty", which was performed during the celebrations of the golden jubilee of the United Arab Emirates;

And the amazing horse from the show "The Boy and the Horse", which was presented in honor of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.


As Expo 2020 Dubai looks to the future, Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence and Commissioner-General of Expo 2020 Dubai, will hand the BIE flag to Ambassador Jay Chul Choi, President of the BIE General Assembly, who will then hand it over to representatives Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai.


The celebrations will continue throughout the night, culminating with another breathtaking display of fireworks, before the curtain falls on the activities of the international event and its gates are closed for the last time at three o’clock in the morning UAE time.


Thursday, March 31, is expected to be one of the busiest days in Expo 2020 Dubai, and visitors are advised to arrive early to make the most of a large package of recreational activities and various events, and it is also recommended to use public transportation, including the "Park and Ride" service available from Jebel Ali Metro Station, with the Dubai Metro open to operate 24 hours a day to ensure visitors can arrive and depart safely and efficiently.
