The Saudi-led coalition in Yemen announced the interception of drones launched by the Houthis towards the Kingdom, and confirmed that an oil facility in Jeddah had been attacked by the Houthis, which led to the outbreak of a huge fire, threatening the Houthis to respond.

The coalition said early Saturday morning that it had intercepted and destroyed two drones in Yemeni airspace, which were launched towards Saudi Arabia.

"We are carrying out air strikes on threat sources in Sanaa and Hodeidah in Yemen," the coalition added.

Earlier, the coalition confirmed that it would deal directly with the sources of the threat, and would spare civilian and oil facilities collateral damage, and called on civilians to avoid approaching any oil site or facility in the city of Hodeidah, Yemen.

The coalition had said that the Saudi defenses had previously destroyed two booby-trapped marches that were launched towards Najran, adding that after being subjected to 16 attacks, it will continue to exercise restraint to make the consultations successful.

The coalition warned the Houthis of what it called the persistence of their violations, and considered that the continuation of Houthi hostilities threatens regional and international security.

Aramco targeting

In turn, the official spokesman for the coalition forces, Brigadier General Turki Al-Maliki, said that the Aramco petroleum products distribution station in Jeddah was subjected to hostile action, as preliminary indications indicate that it was targeted by the Houthis.

Al-Maliki indicated that a fire broke out in two tanks belonging to the oil facility, and that the fire was brought under control without any injuries or casualties.

The spokesman indicated that this escalation targets oil facilities and focuses on trying to influence energy security and the nerve of the global economy, stressing that there is no impact or repercussions of these attacks on the activities of public life in the city of Jeddah.

In the same context, the coalition announced a limited fire at the electricity distribution station in the Samtah governorate in southern Saudi Arabia, explaining that a projectile fell on the station and caused the fire, without causing any casualties.

The coalition also announced that the National Water Company of Saudi Arabia was attacked in Dhahran Al-Janoub.

The Saudi-led coalition considered the organizations' silence about attacking civilians using protected sites, putting them before a moral responsibility.

In a statement, he called on the Houthis to respect international law and stop the escalation by using sites with special protection, stressing that he was monitoring suspicious activity and movements to launch hostile attacks from Sanaa International Airport.

Houthi response

On the other hand, Houthi media said that the coalition launched raids on the city of Hodeidah in western Yemen.

The military spokesman for the Ansar Allah Houthi group, Yahya Saree, had announced the targeting of Aramco's oil facilities in the city of Jeddah, and facilities he described as vital in the capital, Riyadh, with winged missiles.

The leader of the Ansar Allah Houthi group, Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, said that the solution to the crisis in Yemen is to end what he called the aggression and occupation and lift the siege on the country, warning that what he called bypass efforts will not work, as he put it.
