The Russian Defense Ministry said today, Saturday, that the Azerbaijani army has entered an area under the responsibility of the Russian peacekeeping forces in the Nagorno-Karabakh region, at a time when the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry spoke of thwarting a provocative operation by Armenian forces in the region.

The Russian Defense Ministry indicated that the Azerbaijani force had established an observation point in the region, and that it had called on the Azerbaijani side to withdraw its forces.

The ministry added that Azerbaijan carried out 4 strikes by "Bayraktar" drones on sites belonging to the region's forces, and considered this a violation of the tripartite agreements between Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan.

On the other hand, the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry announced that it had thwarted a provocative operation by illegal Armenian forces in the Nagorno-Karabakh region.

The ministry said in a statement today, Saturday, that illegal Armenian forces in Karabakh took advantage of the foggy weather and tried to provoke the Azerbaijani army, adding that the illegal Armenian armed groups were forced to withdraw "due to the immediate measures taken by the Azerbaijani army."

The statement stated that the command of the Russian elements and the joint Turkish-Russian observation center had been informed of the incident, stressing that there were no casualties among the Azerbaijani soldiers, and that the situation was under control.

Yesterday, Friday, the Armenian Foreign Ministry announced that Azerbaijani forces entered the village of Baruch, which is under the control of the Russian peacekeeping forces, on Thursday, considering that this step constitutes a "flagrant violation of the ceasefire agreement."

However, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry responded by saying that "Armenia is spreading misinformation," explaining that the Azerbaijani forces were carrying out actions aimed at "clarifying" their field locations.

On September 27, 2020, the Azerbaijani army launched an operation to liberate its territory in the Karabakh region, and after fierce battles that lasted 44 days, Azerbaijan and Armenia reached on November 10, 2020, a ceasefire agreement, which stipulated the restoration of Baku control over the occupied provinces .
