Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati announced today, Saturday, that all Arab and Gulf countries will restore their normal relations with his country, after his meeting with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, on the sidelines of participating in the work of the 20th edition of the "Doha Forum", which will continue until Sunday.

A statement by Mikati's media office said, "Lebanon always needs Arab sponsorship, and Qatar is on Lebanon's side, and God willing, all Arab countries and the Gulf countries in particular will restore their normal relations with Lebanon, and we need this Arab embrace of our homeland."

He stated that Lebanon should have a strong relationship with the Arab countries in particular, "and it is one of the founders of the League of Arab States and is convinced and believes in these relations," noting that what happened in the last period "was a summer cloud that has passed and will disappear with the visits that I will make to the Arab countries."

Mikati revealed that Qatari Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani will visit Beirut "to personally see the needs that Lebanon demands."

A dispute erupted between Beirut and Gulf capitals on October 29, due to statements about the Yemen war made by former Information Minister George Kordahi before his appointment as a minister, and led him to resign from his post later.

As a result, Riyadh withdrew its ambassador to Beirut, and asked the ambassador of Lebanon to leave, which was later done by the UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait and Yemen.

In January 2022, Kuwait submitted to Lebanon a Gulf initiative to restore confidence in it, including Gulf demands from Beirut, including non-interference in Gulf and Arab affairs in general.
