A man posing as a magnetizer was sentenced this Saturday by the Haute-Loire Assize Court to ten years in prison for having raped or sexually assaulted several of his clients between 2013 and 2017. During the trial which was entirely held behind closed doors, the prosecution had requested a 13-year prison sentence.

The charges began in 2013 when the cabinet of this magnetizer opened in Bas-en-Basset (Haute-Loire) and continued in 2017, the year when a first complaint was filed.

Yves Pesseat, 56, was sentenced to ten years in prison for the rapes or sexual assaults committed on twelve women aged 30 to 60.

An additional sentence of permanent ban on exercising the profession of magnetizer or any activity related to personal care was also pronounced against him.

Twelve women, who had used his services to relieve pain or discomfort, accused him of inappropriate actions and, for five of them, of rape.

Due to the large number of victims and the thirty witnesses and experts called to the bar, the end of the trial scheduled for Friday had been postponed to Saturday.
