The climate threat affects in principle all parts of society and the world and is a priority area in SVT Nyheter's reporting.

Today's climate change is as revolutionary as industrialization once was.

Old technology should come out, and new technology should come in.

There is a race for the best fossil-free energy sources of the future, all to succeed with the great electrification of industry and transport.

But what will drive the aircraft?

Is electric car driving the best technology?

How should wind and solar be converted into reliable electricity?

Are national power grids the future?

Or will it look something completely different?

Looking for solutions that are expected to make a difference

SVT Nyheter today launches the series "Climate solutions" where climate correspondent Erika Bjerström and tech correspondent Alexander Norén are looking for the new solutions, those that are really expected to make a difference and become the ticket to the fossil-free era.

We get to meet the optimistic entrepreneurs, those who believe that we will be surprised by powerful technological leaps.

By showing how individuals and companies work committedly and creatively to find opportunities in everyday life and for entire industries to change, we hope at SVT News to help show that there can be realistic alternatives.

The background is the worrying climate crisis.

Globally, emissions continue to increase.

According to researchers, emissions must be halved by 2030 and we must reach what is called net zero by 2050 to keep global warming below two degrees, which is the goal set by world leaders.

It is a huge challenge.

High priority surveillance area

But in addition to reporting the risks of climate change, solution-oriented journalism is also needed that shows the possibilities for reducing emissions.

That is why we are now starting the initiative "Climate Solutions".

Environment and climate is one of the five most important topics when the SOM Institute and Novus examine how Swedes rank the major societal issues.

For SVT Nyheter, the climate issue is a high-priority coverage area that engages our viewers and readers.

Our reporters and correspondents regularly deliver news, their own reviews and reports from around the world.

In our newsletter, which now has 23,000 subscribers, we collect SVT's coverage of the climate.
