The Atomic Energy Agency: The UAE has provided a global model for newcomers to the peaceful nuclear energy sector

Rafael Mariano Grossi, Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, congratulated the United Arab Emirates on doubling the amount of carbon-free electricity from the Barakah plants with the start of commercial operation of its second plant.

In a statement on this occasion, he said that the UAE has provided a model for newcomers to the nuclear energy sector, by developing its peaceful nuclear energy program and highlighting the importance of strategic planning and vision, as well as achievement in accordance with international standards and practices.

He added, "It was a pleasure to witness the progress of the Barakah stations, which support the efforts of the UAE in achieving the goals of its strategic initiative to reach climate neutrality by 2050."
