China News Agency, Washington, March 25. Qin Gang, Chinese Ambassador to the United States, said on the 25th that the Sino-US agricultural cooperation is the epitome of mutual benefit and win-win in the economic and trade fields of the two countries, which fully demonstrates the reality that the economic structures of the two countries are highly complementary and their interests are deeply intertwined.

Qin Gang made the above remarks while delivering a video speech at the "Sino-US Agricultural Roundtable Forum".

He said that both China and the United States are major agricultural producers and consumers.

The United States is the world's largest exporter of agricultural products, and China is the world's largest importer of agricultural products.

Agriculture is the highlight of China-US pragmatic cooperation, with a sound foundation for cooperation and strong complementarity.

Qin Gang said that since the signing of the first-phase economic and trade agreement between China and the United States in 2020, China has actively fulfilled the agricultural product purchase agreement, and the trade in agricultural products between China and the United States has recovered rapidly.

In 2021, despite the double adverse effects of the epidemic and Sino-US economic and trade frictions, the trade volume of agricultural products between China and the United States will still reach US$46.51 billion, of which imports from the US will be US$39.02 billion, a year-on-year increase of 64.2%.

China is the largest export destination of U.S. agricultural products, accounting for nearly one-fifth of total U.S. agricultural exports. The Chinese market provides important support for the record-breaking U.S. agricultural exports in 2021.

Last year, the average U.S. farmer exported more than $11,000 of agricultural products to China.

Qin Gang pointed out that agricultural cooperation is an important part of Sino-US friendly cooperative relations.

At present, agricultural production is increasingly faced with multiple constraints such as population, resources, and environment. The new crown pneumonia epidemic and climate change have brought new challenges to human agricultural development and food security.

Further promoting China-US agricultural cooperation will not only benefit the agriculture and people of the two countries, but also be of great significance to world food security and agricultural development.
