The Lancang River originating from the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau in China is called the Mekong River after it flows through Yunnan, Tibet, and exits from Xishuangbanna. It flows through Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam successively.
The six Lancang-Mekong countries drink the same river, and their fates are closely linked.
Since the launch of the Lancang-Mekong cooperation mechanism in 2016, General Secretary Xi Jinping has actively promoted exchanges and cooperation among countries along the Lancang-Mekong route and built a community of shared future for neighboring countries.
