Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said - on Friday - that cooperation in the field of natural gas is among the most important steps that Turkey and Israel can take, amid an attempt to repair relations, adding that Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett may visit Turkey.

Earlier this month, Erdogan said he believed Israeli President Isaac Herzog's visit to Turkey would be a turning point in the long-strained relations between the two countries, and that Ankara was ready to cooperate in the energy sector.

Erdogan told reporters, on his return trip from the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) summit that was held yesterday in Brussels, that Bennett, too, may come, and there may be an opportunity to start a new era in Turkish-Israeli relations.

"I think that natural gas is one of the most important steps that we can take together for the sake of bilateral relations," he added, noting that the details of cooperation will be discussed later during the visit of the Turkish foreign and energy ministers to Israel.
